Hey guys,
I have been around for a while now and wanted to thank all of you for the great documentations of your boards. A special thanks to the HWTM-Developer and the founder of the forum Rich. Without you guys I would have never started.

My name is Lukas, I'm from Germany, Berlin, and mainly surf in France, that's why I'm going for the Eggshape.
I started building my board in August here are the details and some pictures.

For my first board I chose cheap material, as light as i could find it at the local hardware stores in Berlin:

Bottom plank: poplar plywood 5mm
ribs and stringer: multiplex plywood 6,5mm
rail-strips: 5mmx10mmx2000mm pine strips
glue: I just asked for polyurethane based glue in the hardware store. If I fail in the end it's definitly not due to the glue, it's prety strong. the name: Ponal PUR

I hope this information will help some others planning.

Now some pictures follow.

File comment: For the last part in the front. I used a wet cloth and an iron to make the wood soft and bend it easier. It worked great thanks for that advice Rich!

File comment: After glueing the blocks to the frame and the frame to the bottom (poplar plywood 5mm) I started with the rails, which was a lot of work and didn't come out the perfectly but I hope it's good enough.

File comment: The frame is allready glued and I added a nose and tail block because I was worried about bending the rail strips to much. The nose block locks a bit weird but we'll see if it works out

For now I'm stuck with the deck because I don't really know if I'm ready to glue it on top of everything. For my question please follow the link to the beginner part of the forum. I would be thankful for some advice!

Uh oh, no chine.
I hope you like a hard rail.

I built a board with no chine once. I was advised to insert pieces of chine between the ribs but I didn't listen. I applied a fillet of polyurethane construction adhesive where the chine should have gone and just rounded the bottom of the rail as much as I could.
It works when the surf is really fast and steep which hardly ever happens in my neck of the woods, so I hardly use it. Oh well, it's still pretty.
