Unread post Simmons longboard
Hi, I am looking at making a simmons longboard probably around the 8'8" mark. Any ideas on:

- Thickness ?
- Width ?
- Concave in the nose\tail ?
- Rails ?

How does it ride? I talked to a guy riding a 10' "twin" in the water the other day. It wasn't wood but looked like a lot of fun. Wooden boards are interesting and beautiful. It always comes back to that for me.

Contact Brad Tucker - he scanned one from a Bob Simmons nephew and has a kit designed. I built one!

I think everyone is tempted to build one. A friend was surfing one at my local spot a week ago. He had a 6'4" with the twin keels. It was his first time out with it so he wasn't tearing the place up. I built a little one and it was fun but, a tad heavy for the beach break here. Here is a link that has Bob Simmons pics and info. It might help. I know that John Cherry (San Diego area) built some that where 8' and longer. Good Luck,

Thanks guys. I am thinking of:

Length: 8'2" - 8'6"
Width: 21" - 23"
Thick: 3"

Single concave nose to tail with tail being deeper concave. OR a scoped nose like Donald Takayama does on he's longboards.

Not sure what I'll do with fins but I am thinking of doing my own FCS fins.
