wish I could sell it cheaper:

150€ includes
- worktime for
straightening the raw wood beams
glueing them together
sanding the gluejoints
-check the prices for West System Epoxy
-check the prices for raw Paulownia wood in Europe incl. freight, customs etc.and hope that you dont have any bad pieces
-storage costs

a Al Merrick board costs around 375 Euros in Australia... same board in the UK costs 700 to 800 Euros.

welcome to Europe

Your not selling Al Merrick boards. Your selling raw wood.

That why we use cedar and other great woods.
Cedar is 1/4th of the price and still it's very expensive.

Welcome to Europe you too

I don't want to be the Devil's lawyer although I might sound as one.
The raw wood comes out to be €2.666,66 per cubic metre.
Still it's about double the price of cedar.
I'm not saying it's expensive for the rich european countries like Blue and Pig live in (UK).
It's just too expensive for some people in the poor european countries like Portugal.

Never the less it's good to know that at least exists a european supplier.
I'm sure you will make good business and have sucess.
I wish you good luck and all the best.
I hope some day in the future I can afford to buy from you

Thank you for sharing this information

interesting comment silverio - cedar in the UK is silly money - timber merchants laugh when you ask for it, I was recently quoted 120x8x2400mm lengths at £16 each from a local yard - how that compares cubic metre wise I shudder to think..

we have scots pine - a national builders yard sells 100x50x3000mm lengths at £6.80, so will use this for the next board.

paulownia just isn't available in the UK so maybe worth the cost for an experiment - I'd love to try it, so will save up for some. at 20-euros a length its a bit pricey but what the hell - it'll make a grand board.

IMO the UK should be investing in fast growing timber plantations as a green renewable fuel - no one does yet, so expect to pay a premium to an importer.

in so much as the UK being a "rich" country - maybe, its all relative, the cost of living here is pretty high, so money left at the end of the month after household expenses is not much. I certainly don't feel rich - maybe a portugese paulownia plantation could make you a fortune!! I'll start you off with some seeds if you like.

must dash, the butler has just informed me that sherry is served in the drawing room, followed by our evening meal of quails in aspic, poached sturgeon, roast swan, followed by ox
